Before I met Teri I was hoping that I would be able to breastfeed my daughter. Prior to her birth, I began the process of inducing lactation because she would be coming to us through adoption.. Once she was born, I began the trial and error process that every new mother must experience. I had my precious baby, all the desire and book knowledge there was to have. Yet I had questions, did not feel confident, and was running into painful challenges. Only a few weeks into this and I didn't want to give up, but didn't know what to do.
My husband and I had traveled very far from home for the adoption. Looking for any help I could find, I found a nursing mother's support group scheduled at a near by hospital. I headed out baby in tow, to get help, only ended up being lost. My baby was crying, I was crying thinking I was going to miss what I thought was my only chance for help. I called to get directions, Teri answered the phone, assuring me with her advice, kindness, and soothing voice. She told me to breathe and feed my baby and then call her back.
When I called back she told me I had missed the class, but she would love to meet with me one on one. When I met with her, Teri was so comforting, reassuring, and encouraged me that I could do this!
I learned so much, and that moment really changed my outlook and empowered me to be able to feed my baby.
Teri coached me in such an instinctual and hopeful way. Her follow up was so personal and caring that it affirmed my desires with all the right education and information I could have hoped for. It was such a positive experience that almost four years later, I am thankful to say I have induced lactation again with yet another sweet little babe!
I am so thankful for the support Teri has shown to me and my family.
Teri was an absolute angel and such an incredible blessing.
Without her, I don't know that I would have been nearly as successful with breastfeeding, and I might have even given up nursing.
She was an ever-patient coach, cheerleader, and support.
She was always there to answer my (many) questions about breastfeeding and babies. As a new mom, there's a lot to learn, no matter how much you prepare. Teri helped me figure out how to be the best mom I could be for my little one, and offered endless encouragement along the way.
I'm eternally grateful for everything she's done for me and my family!
My husband and I were very fortunate to take childbirth education classes with Teri as well as have her as our Doula for the birth of our first child. We took classes from our local hospital but they did not fully prepare us.
I really loved the Personal Touch and attention that Teri gave to us as a couple versus what we received in the Hospital classes. She effectively explained the different stages of labor and what we could expect along the way.
Every labor is different and learning all of the miraculous things that are happening inside the laboring mother's body was incredible.
She offered so much compassionate support leading up to labor, offering advice for different late pregnancy symptoms and tips for how to prepare my body for the big event.
Understanding why there was pain and learning different positions and natural pain management techniques to help my body effectively labor and ultimately push out our baby was exactly what I needed.
She knew exactly what our goals for labor were and having her there was absolutely invaluable to our wonderful birth experience.
Her decades of knowledge allowed such a calming presence in the room. It provided so much reassurance and support during this life-changing experience for our family. So many things can happen and change so quickly. Having someone there to support my husband and I who knew and had lived through it gave us the confidence to stick to our plan as much as possible. During so many firsts she was there in the moment saying that all the pain was good, and we were doing great! She gave me and my husband the confidence to keep going. I am grateful beyond measure for her gifting in this area and the passionate work this woman does.
In 2020 when I was late in my second trimester of my first pregnancy, the world shut down. We were scared about a lot of things, even more-so when all of our birthing classes got cancelled.
Teri gave my husband and I private classes on labor and delivery, breastfeeding, and baby care. she was there anytime of day or night to advise and encourage when we at last began our breastfeeding journey.
Her information was thorough and easy to understand and helped demystify our initial journey into parenthood. Her continued expertise as a lactation consultant was invaluable. We are so thankful for her!
Alisha’s Story
As a first-time mom I was very nervous about all the unexpected that I was about to experience. Even after some birthing and breastfeeding classes I still felt as though I had a million questions. Yet, somehow, I didn’t know what questions to ask to feel prepared. Then I called Teri.
Though we lived out of state, Teri graciously guided my husband and I via zoom and phone calls through the entire labor and birthing process as well as postpartum and breastfeeding. She encouraged us along the way through prayer, classes, and follow up. She walked me through creating a birth plan and helped me understand how to protect my desires while also protecting my precious baby girl.
Teri was available to answer questions after birth when I needed help getting my daughter to latch properly. She taught me different feeding techniques and stayed by my side until I found one that was comfortable for both me and my baby. I am so thankful for Teri’s guidance through this entire process. Her loving spirit combined with her thorough teaching methods calmed my nerves and empowered me to feel confident in myself.
Kim’s Story 1990 -2001
Becoming pregnant doesn’t always mean you understand your body and how it works. At least not for me.
Teri has been my doula for labor, birth and postpartum as well as my lactation coach for all four of my children.
As I sat on her couch pregnant with my first baby, knowing less about the human body, MY body, than her 9-year-old son, she patiently explained the intricate and fascinating
workings of a woman’s body.
I became very aware that I needed more information than I was receiving in my doctor’s office.
I WANTED more information.
The hours spent in Teri’s classes gave my husband and I the Self Assurance and Control we needed over our birthing and nursing experiences. When it was time to give birth, we had the confidence we needed and knew we were ready.
Teri supported my husband too by encouraging him that he was doing a great job and just the person I needed by my side. She also was there to give him much needed breaks during my long and difficult labors.
Teri’s confidence, education, experience, and skill by our side allowed us to focus on the important stuff.
Becoming a family.
Susie and Mark's Story 1993 - 2008
Mark and Susie are a beautiful couple who were discouraged by many medical professionals against having children because they both have Cerebral Palsy.
Then they met Dr. Jose Cueto! A compassionate man who has a great desire to serve women within their specific needs.
Teri, you helped deliver this baby and had faith in me to give birth. When the typical medical field didn't believe in me, you and Jose Cueto did!! You didn't prejudge me or give up on me. You stood by my side through thick and thin.
God used a Momma like me, with Cerebral Palsy, and I gave birth to Four healthy children!!
